St Albans Christmas Market

St Albans knows a thing or two about markets, having one of the oldest regular markets in the UK, dating back to the 9th century. So what better City to hold a European-style Christmas Market? The 2017 Christmas Market will take place from Saturday 25th November to Saturday 23rd December 2017.

Information for visitors

After 1,000 years of vibrant street markets, St Albans now has a Christmas Market to add to its festive offering. The event takes place in and around the beautiful, walled Vintry Garden adjacent to the magnificent 11th-century St Albans Cathedral.

This year's Christmas Market – the fifth such event, run by St Albans City and District Council - runs from Saturday 25th November to Saturday 23rd December.

Entertainment and Activities

A line-up of local acts will perform in the Tinseltown Tipi – a beautiful, festive space lit with twinkling fairy lights. It will be the venue for musicians, dance troupes, magicians, fire eaters and other circus performers. There will also be some surprise DJs and creative workshops for all ages to enjoy.

We have the only City Centre Santa’s Grotto and there will also be a giant snow globe where people can have a family photograph taken. Both will be open every day apart from Mondays.
