Alban Weekend

The Alban Weekend showcases over 2,000 years of history and remarkable heritage and extraordinary places to eat and drink. There's a fabulous shopping arena plus unique attractions and events all at your fingertips in one weekend. Come for the Pilgrimage on Saturday 24th June and stay for the street festival on Sunday 25th June, featuring food stalls, creative and sporting activities, live music, performance and more: and all of it is free!


The Alban Pilgrimage - Saturday 24th June

Alban Pilgrimage 190x150 with borderJoin the crowds in St Albans as the city comes together to celebrate Britain's first saint, Alban. This unique and dramatic event sees giant carnival puppets retrace Alban's last steps and tell his remarkable and moving story. Roman chariots, centurions, lions, roses and executioners all take their place in the procession from St Peter's Church, through the City Centre to St Albans Cathedral.

The procession starts at 11.00 from St Peter's Church. Come and wave a flag as it passes by!

St Albans Traditional Street Market - Saturday 24th June

Street Market 190x150 with borderThe market is situated along the Alban Pilgrimage processional route in a perfect location to make a visit after the event has finished.
