Somerset-based singer and songwriter, Kitty Macfarlane, returns to Folk at the Maltings as part of a national tour to launch her debut album, ‘Namer of clouds’. Her lyrics combine honest snapshots of everyday humanity with the bigger questions that have connected minds and voices for centuries, driven by her own fingerpicked guitar.
‘Namer of clouds’ is a collection of original and traditional songs threaded together by the theme of mankind's relationship with the wild, tackling issues of rewilding, climate change, and migration, as well as woman's historical relationship with textiles and the land. Sedbuskers, sometimes known as the Bullenbush Band duo, is singer songwriters Ian and Sue Bembridge. They deliver songs with stories, meaning and enjoyment, accompanied by guitar, mandocello, piano accordion and a variety of recorders.
New Roots finalist, Elye Cuthbertson is a folk musician based in London. He plays as soloist on melodeon, and in groups and ensembles like the National Youth Folk Ensemble. Elye plays a varied repertoire of traditional and modern music from the UK and all around the world.
