150px Disabled Go logoShopmobility has been operating in St Albans for ten years and is funded by St Albans City and District Council and through donations. Visitors with limited mobility can take advantage of the free Shopmobility scheme, providing manual wheelchairs and battery-powered scooters. Shopmobility is conveniently located behind BHS in the Drover’s Way car park.

Parking restrictions are relaxed for blue badge holders, making parking easier for those who are less mobile. Blue badge holders can park on yellow lines, in any car park operated by St Albans City and District Council or on-street parking bay for up to three hours as long as there are no loading restrictions and as long as the blue badge and clock are shown correctly. If the badge and clock are not displayed correctly, you are likely to get a Penalty Charge Notice.

The following car parks have designated spaces for disabled parking:

Marks & Spencers’ Car Park
The Maltings
Christopher Place
London Road
Civic Centre
Drover's Way
Russell Avenue
Verulamium (St Michael’s)
Westminster Lodge

Opening times 0930 to 1600 hrs from Monday to Saturday

Prices A wheelchair can be hired for up to 4 weeks at a cost of £5 per week or part week.
There is no charge for the scooters or one day loan of manual wheelchairs, however we do welcome donations to help us to meet the running costs, ensure its future success and enable us to extend the scheme so that more people can enjoy the freedom that Shopmobility gives them.
